S Reid Roofing Ltd is a Cumbrian roofing contractor based at Longtown, just north of Carlisle and a few minutes from the Scottish border. That location is deliberate: it puts North Cumbria, the Solway coast and the border towns of Dumfries & Galloway all within comfortable reach, and the Tyne Valley within a straightforward run east.

The business was built around a simple way of working — look at the roof properly, report what is actually there with photographs, and recommend the least intrusive repair that genuinely solves the problem. Replacement is proposed when a roof warrants it, not as a default.

We work on everything from Victorian terraces and sandstone farmhouses to modern estate housing and commercial units, in some of the wettest and most wind-exposed conditions in the country. That range is why we invest in drone inspection alongside traditional slating, tiling and leadwork skills: the diagnosis has to be right before the craft is worth anything.

Work is delivered by our own directly employed roofing team rather than passed to subcontractors, so the people who quote your job are the people who carry it out. That matters for accountability: if something needs revisiting, you speak to the same team.

Between us we cover slating and tiling, flat roofing systems, lead sheet work, chimney repair and rebuilding, roofline and rainwater goods, and drone-based inspection. On heritage and conservation work we use traditional materials and methods — lime mortar, dressed lead, salvaged and matched slate — because modern shortcuts cause the next generation of problems.
